SACLA
Giants
South
Africa faces a number of giants:
*
HIV and Aids
* Violence
* Racism
* Poverty &
Unemployment
* Sexism
* Family in Crisis
Each
day at the SACLA conference, a Christian response to these issues
was looked at within the Track groupings. They provide a vehicle
for Christian leaders from similar spheres of influence in society,
to produce solutions, driven action and plans for implementation
at local level. The aim is to challenge and motivate leaders at
all levels to take seriously the issues facing our country and
to begin to take action in dealing with them in a spirit of servanthood
to God and our country.
This
briefing guide was prepared for all who are interested in
SACLA. It describes the giants, explains why they threaten
our country and our churches, frames the issues and tells
a little about what is being done, and where further information
can be found.

This
brief has been developed by Dr Hannah Britton and Paul Graham.
A short brief cannot be comprehensive and the authors encourage
readers to add their own information, stories and analysis when
discussing how best to slay these giants.

Then
David said to Goliath, "You come to me with a sword
and with a spear and with a javelin; but I come to you in
the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of
Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver
you into my hand, … that all the earth may know that
there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may
know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear; for the
battle is the LORD'S and he will give you into our hand."
1 Samuel 17
