Bright Young Things
Conference 2004

“One of the biggest challenges your company will face in the next 5 years, is how to attract, recruit, retain, motivate and get the best of the Bright Young Things.”

Bright Young Things, also known as Generation X, are 34 year of age at their oldest. They’re beginning to gain access to positions and forums of influence inside of your business. The challenge is that they have a differing value system and consequently approach life and work differently to Baby Boomers who have gone before them.

TomorrowToday.biz invites you and your colleagues to a one-day executive seminar on Bright Young Things. This interactive seminar will explore the broader changes in society that have influenced the value system and world view of the Bright Young Things, and consequently how your company will need to adapt it’s approach in order to create a value proposition that will ensure your success in attracting, recruiting, retaining, motivating and getting the best from the Bright Young Things.

THE CHALLENGE
Regardless of the business you're in, the single greatest challenge facing a company's future success today, is bridging the gap between the up & coming Bright Young Things (BYT) and the retiring Baby boomers.

THE QUESTIONS

  • Does your company have a strategy to attract, recruit, retain, reward, motivate, nurture and get the best from your Bright Young Things?  Is it working?
  • Does your company have a strategy to replace your retiring Baby Boomers whose numbers are far greater than your Generation X replacements?

THE OUTCOME
TomorrowToday.biz's Bright Young Things Conference is a one day interactive learning experience that will help you understand some of the new dynamics of the workplace, convince you of the critical importance of retaining talent, formulate the questions you should be asking, and assist you to start a process of finding answers, thus ensuring your company's success into the future.

SURELY THE BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS WILL JUST GROW UP AND LOOK LIKE ME?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No they wont. Session 1 of the conference will help you appreciate why different generations have different value systems. While it is true to say that different generations in your workplace are going through different 'life stages', there is an underlying unique value system that separates one generation from another. To create a full appreciation for this, we'll work with you to develop a 'new' value system, as we take various world developments and formulate a unique value system for an entire group of people.
TELL ME WHAT THEY WANT, WHAT THEY REALLY REALLY WANT?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Using research conducted by TomorrowToday.biz and our partners we will work through the outcomes of the value system adopted by your Bright Young Things. We'll help you to understand what they want and hold it up against what their Baby Boomer bosses want. You'll have a clear picture as to why some of what has worked with your older set is brushed off, ignored and ineffective with your younger set.

IT'S A WORLD OF PARADOX
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Their are paradoxes you encounter in your workplace from a value perspective that can't be solved. But then again, that's the nature of paradox. We'll uncover the common and not so common paradoxes that exist. Knowing what they are, and appreciating that you can't solve them, may be the key to unlocking the best from a current and future difficult situation.
