BACKGROUND
How will the Biblical values that have ensured the civil
liberties of the most advanced societies in the world be
brought to bear on the future of Africa and all her people?
The call to democratise Africa presents Christians with
this critical challenge.
Christian lawyers who have a Biblical worldview of law and
justice, and who are effectively networked across the continent
should be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ at
this time in the history of the African continent. Many
of the challenges that the nations of sub-Saharan Africa
face can be effectively addressed if these nations have
strong legal defences that are rooted in a Biblical standard
of righteousness and justice.
To this end, lawyers from across the SADC region and other
African nations will gather to attend the first-ever Southern
Africa Convocation of Christian Lawyers in August 2004.
This meeting has been called to facilitate the consultation
and networking of Christians in the legal profession who
are concerned for the future of their nations and are determined
to make a difference as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ,
representing His Kingdom while taking a stand for righteousness
and justice in the field of Law.
