BACKGROUND
How will the Biblical values that have ensured the civil liberties of the most advanced societies in the world be brought to bear on the future of Africa and all her people? The call to democratise Africa presents Christians with this critical challenge.
Christian lawyers who have a Biblical worldview of law and justice, and who are effectively networked across the continent should be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ at this time in the history of the African continent. Many of the challenges that the nations of sub-Saharan Africa face can be effectively addressed if these nations have strong legal defences that are rooted in a Biblical standard of righteousness and justice.
To this end, lawyers from across the SADC region and other African nations will gather to attend the first-ever Southern Africa Convocation of Christian Lawyers in August 2004. This meeting has been called to facilitate the consultation and networking of Christians in the legal profession who are concerned for the future of their nations and are determined to make a difference as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, representing His Kingdom while taking a stand for righteousness and justice in the field of Law.

VENUE
The conference will be held at St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls, Duxbury Road. Hillcrest Pretoria. The venue is located in a peaceful suburban setting close to the University of Pretoria and within walking distance of the Hatfield and Hillcrest Boulevard shopping centres. For the duration of the conference delegates will have access to the terrain and associated facilities as the conference has been scheduled during the private school holidays.
Accommodation for single delegates and law students is provided on-site in single cubicles with shared ablution facilities, in the school hostel. A number of guesthouses and economical hotels are located in close proximity to the school where comfortable accommodation can be reserved for those who would prefer not to stay in the hostel. (Delegates who choose this option need to make their own reservations. A list of guesthouses and hotels is available on request.)

TRANSPORT AND SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS
Organisers will arrange for delegates to be transported to and from the airport as required. The cost of transport will be calculated on arrival as the time of arrival and associated flights will determine the rate. This is an additional cost that will be payable on arrival. Other special transport requirements must be negotiated separately.

FOREIGN CURRENCIES – The rates for the conference have been set in South African Rand. Foreign delegates should make provision for their payment to be made in advance at the exchange.
