Media Workers Fellowship (MWF)
– A Forum for Christians in Media

Who we are

The Media Workers Fellowship (MWF) consists of Christian believers involved in advertising, design, journalism, broadcasting, photography, and other forms of media. MWF is a response to an outcry for fellowship and support in the Cape Town area. Whether you are a professional or a student, together we can be a light in the media community.

Affiliation

In October 2002 the MWF was formed by and continues to work under the communications group of the Consultation of Christian Churches (CCC).
The MWF works closely with media fellowships in East London, Durban and Johannesburg.
Aims

1. To act as a fellowship group for Christian media workers by providing them with a space to network, share information and provide each other with emotional and spiritual support.
2. To pray for the media and media workers.
3. To conduct evangelism amongst media workers.
4. To act as a human resource for the churches, especially in the area of training.
5. To train members in both media skills and on how to live a successful Christian lifestyle in the secular media.
6. To act as a voice for Christian media workers in the Western Cape.
7. To reach out to and mentor young people studying in tertiary institutions.
8. To pursue international relationships with Christian media workers and organizations.

Chairpersons message

I believe that the founding of the MWF is a key moment in the history of media in this city. The vision for this organization was given independently to a number of unrelated people, with God bringing us all as a united group of Christians across all denominations. I believe the MWF will provide a space for us to learn to cope with the challenges of living as Christian witnesses in the often hostile environment of today's media, as well as giving us all an excuse to socialize, make new friends and grow in our thinking about God and the media. The media today needs God and we are all in the perfect place to be His disciples. I look forward to seeing where God takes us next and I hope that you will be excited and motivated to join us on this journey! The MWF is presently focusing on networking and prayer. Please join us in making a positive difference in our city!

Your in Christ,

Miles Giljam
