The
6th Newsong Festival will be taking place in Hartenbos,
just outside Mossel Bay, from the 25th to 28th
September. Four days of fun, sport, camping, bands, speakers,
worship and above all life-changing encounters with an awesome
God who is very much in love with you.
Newsong
Festival has developed the reputation for attracting some of the
top Christian bands in the country as well as providing opportunity
for up-and-coming bands to cut their teeth by giving them a chance
to perform in front of a decent crowd. This year looks to be no
different.
In
terms of sport we will be running skating and surfing clinics
for people who have always wanted to learn how to. We will also
be offering sports like soccer, touch rugby, volleyball and more.
Swimming pools, putt-putt, heated pools and super tubes are also
available at the site so lots of fun will be had by all.
This
year bands that will be playing include MIC, Fevertree, Radioflyer,
Serving Suggestion, Famous, Skywire, CAB, Sedwick, 6 of 9, Kickstand,
Surreal, One Good Reason, Matt Allison, Tamarin Seed, Luke Pederson,
Crowded Solitude, Sitis.
This
year's theme is 'For the Least of these...' based on the Matthew
25 parable of the sheep and goats - with a big emphasis on commitment
to South Africa by South Africans and trying to hear God's heart
for the lost, sick, imprisoned, homeless.
On
the last night of the festival we will continue last year's awesome
tradition of ending with an evening of praise, worship and ministry
- giving God space to speak into and work in our lives.
The
festival is set up to be a tool or catalyst for the local church
or youth group - invite non-Christian friends to the festival
and then incorporate them into your church and disciple them afterwards.
Come and be a part of the vision and the process.
Newsong
Festival 2004: More than just a festival... it's an encounter
with God.
